Mary Ann Takemoto '80"As a first-generation college student from Southern California, my experience at Barnard was transformational and I am grateful for the impact it had on me. The exceptional education I received—especially in the psychology department—prepared me well for doctoral study in clinical psychology. I have worked in higher education for over thirty years and understand the importance of philanthropy and how it helps students. I would not have been able to attend Barnard without receiving financial support from the College, and I know that I will be able assist future generations of Barnard students by joining the Athena Society. My husband Anthony and I established a living trust, and have made Barnard a beneficiary of a portion upon our passing. The gift will support financial aid for students who like me are the first in their families to attend college."
