“It’s amazing the number of times I’ve been in a meeting, at a conference, or in a boardroom speaking with an inspirational female leader, only to find out later she is a Barnard grad.”

Including support for Barnard in my estate plan was a no-brainer: a scholarship, after all, made it possible for me to attend the College. I wanted to pay it forward.

Thanks to my scholarship, doors were thrown open wide for me—doors I didn’t even know existed. Coming to Barnard meant making lifelong friends, discovering my career path, falling in love with art, food, and the city I still call home—New York.

The Barnard scholarship I received made this all possible.

During my junior year, I had the opportunity to meet the generous alumna, Ari S. Brose ’84, who created the scholarship I received. I was so inspired, I vowed to give back as well. I began by giving to the Barnard Annual Fund each year. But, I also wanted to make a lasting impact on the College and discovered a gift in my estate plan was the perfect solution.

Planned gifts support Barnard’s continued commitment to admit the most remarkable students, regardless of their financial situations. That means the doors that opened for me could open for any student, no matter her ability to pay.

Adding Barnard to my will achieved two things: it allowed me to support student aid and Barnard’s need-blind admissions—and it fit my financial goals. It’s easy to add Barnard to your will, and it feels gratifying to know the next generation of Barnard women will benefit from the action you take today. I am so proud to support Barnard through a planned gift.
